A finished product!

Hello friends!

It has been such a good summer. Sewing, spending time with my best friend, and generally enjoying the season have been on the top of my priority list! Unfortunately, this blog has suffered because of it. 🙂

In the beginning of summer, my good friend Em came home from college, and she and I decided to have a get-together over tea. Em and I have much in common, including a love for Jane Austen novels, Big Band music, and (of course) fashion! We chatted, laughed, and then began to discuss summer plans. Turns out she wanted to do some sewing, seeing as she hadn’t had time in quite a while. We discussed styles, looked at her fabric choices, and came up with a master plan. So over the past couple of months, we’ve gotten together almost every a week and worked on several projects.

Em designed the dress with very simple, tailored lines. A nice squared neckline, with a wide cream waistband and wider cream band along the hemline. The navy blue material is a cotton/linen blend, and the cream material is 100% linen. (I had to go and get some of the cream for myself!) She opted for a hidden side zipper, and closed in all her seams using a French seam, so that she won’t have to worry about fraying.

And yesterday *enter trumpet sounds here* she was able to wear the finished product! I know just how excited she was to FINALLY be wearing the dress that she took such pains with! We ended up going outside and doing a small photo-shoot, simply because we had to show off the dress.

Good job, Em! 🙂

The dress is finished! Hooray!

I’ve been MIA for a short while, but it’s not because the creative juices aren’t flowing! In fact, quite the opposite… I ended up taking photos of most of the projects I’ve managed to complete in the last few weeks, and it was neat to put them together in my first-ever mosaic. Some of the photos are repeats for you, but bear with me. 🙂 After taking these photos I got an idea for one dress, and almost completely cut out another. Three cheers for having time to do fun sewing projects!

My next project… a reproduction 1930’s outfit… I hope it turns out, because I finally got the nerve to cut up my all-time favorite feedbag! 🙂 God bless, and have a wonderful day!

Some Changes…

Hello everyone! You might not have noticed a few minor changes on my website, but I worked on this yesterday for quite a while! After much thought I decided I wanted to remove my other “main” website, and moved the domain to this site!

And if you scroll down on the sidebar, you’ll see a new feature, a green box titled “Freebie”. That holds two vintage embroidery patterns which are free to download! I hope to change that out every now and again, and I’ll be sure to let my readers know when new patterns are available.

I also have a new Shop page, which can be found clicking here. I haven’t yet set up a thumbnail for the sidebar, so that link will have to do for now!

God Bless, and I hope to be back again soon! Have a wonderful day, everyone!

It’s a perfect day for hanging out…

The results of a photoshoot!

Hello all! How are you this fine, rainy evening?

I thought y’all might enjoy seeing the results of a recent photoshoot! A dear friend allowed me to take some pictures of her daughter, and we had a grand time goofing off, taking hilarious candids, and some crazy self-portraits (including one of me wearing a tiara!). There were, as always, a few that really turned out well, and so I had a grand time editing them on photoshop. Enjoy!

This photo was so fun to edit!

I love the snow in her hair.

I know, I’ve been telling you all for weeks that I need to get in my sewing room… it’s still true! I may have inspiration tomorrow, since it looks like a quiet, rainy weekend. I hope to show off some new projects soon! I have all kinds of ideas… 😀

Well, it’s getting a bit late for me to be up… God Bless, and have a wonderful evening!
